HISTORY:
Shri  Sadguru Samartha Narayana Maharaj

Shri  Sadguru Samartha Narayana Aashram, situated in Hyderabad, India, has a history of 350 years and is a pioneering institution in propagating Sanaatana Dharma.  Its foundation dates back to 17th century. This part of the Deccan was liberated from Aurangajeb by Shivaji Maharaj. Then on the advise of his Guru, His Holiness Sadguru Samartha Ramadasa Maharaj, he declared vast portion of the land on both sides of the river Musi (Muchakunda) for Ashrams and Mutts where rituals of Sanatana Dharma were performed. These places became the sacred places for meditation, anushtanam, upasana, vedic chanting,  performing yagnas,  learning Vedas and Upanishads. Thousands of people used to visit these Aashrams to have darshana of sadhus, mahatmas. In addition to participating in Bhajans, Keertanas and Satsanga,  they used to do Go Seva and render possible services to the Cows. Every individual was served with Maha Prasaadam (Holy Meals). The only intention behind this holy exercise was universal peace and prosperity. Today this Aashram, popularly known as Sri Sadguru Samartha Narayana Aashram, stands majestically on the northern bank of Musi river.
From the beginning of the 20th century the incessant effort of his holiness Sri Sadguru Narayana Maharaj (11th  Peethadhipathi of  Sri Sadguru Samartha Ramadasa Parampara) has stood against all odds and atrocities during British regime and Razakars  and nurtured this institution.
